Nichols promoted Alice Mullen to head women’s basketball coach. Mullen was an assistant for the Bison this past season. Mullen was also an assistant at her alma mater, Rhode Island College, for a season. She replaces Natalie Soffen, who resigned after leading the squad for five years.
Athletics directors – McKendree director of athletics Todd Reynolds resigned from the role he held since 2010. Melissa Ringhausen will take over on an interim basis … Ole Miss appointed Ross Bjork as its athletics director. Bjork has been Western Kentucky’s AD since 2010. He replaces Pete Boone, who will retire in April.
Associate athletics directors – Torry Rollins is Slippery Rock’s new associate athletics director. Rollins comes from Southeast Missouri State, where he was assistant athletic director for business affairs.
Assistant athletics directors – Wayne State hired Lisa Donaldson as assistant athletic director for compliance. Donaldson served as a compliance coordinator at Ball State since 2008.
Men’s basketball – Rhode Island named Dan Hurley head men’s basketball coach. Hurley was Wagner’s head coach for the last two seasons.
Women’s basketball – UC Irvine will not renew the contract of head women’s basketball coach Molly Goodenbour, who coached the team for four seasons … UMKC head women’s basketball coach Candace Whitaker resigned from her role to become the associate head coach at Oklahoma State. Bruce Erickson will serve as the interim head coach … UNC Asheville reassigned head women’s basketball coach Betsy Blose to an administration position. Blose coached the program for the past 10 seasons.
Field hockey – Kenyon chose Jacque DeMarco as its new head field hockey coach. DeMarco was formerly an assistant at Ball State.
Field hockey assistants – Holy Cross named Maryette Stuart an assistant field hockey coach. Stuart spent last season at Siena.
Football assistants – Mark Ivey is returning to his alma mater, Appalachian State, as a defensive assistant. Ivey spent the last 16 years as a high school coach … Dayton promoted Chris Ochs from offensive line coach to offensive coordinator. Additionally, Kevin Hoyng will move from tight ends coach to quarterbacks coach while assistant Kevin McCoy is elevated to a full-time position … Miami (Ohio) added Ron Carpenter and Ed Stults to its football coaching staff as assistants.
Men’s and women’s ice hockey – Colgate head women’s ice hockey coach Scott Wiley resigned after 10 years in the role.
Men’s and women’s soccer – Brooklyn hired Patrick Home as its new head women’s soccer coach. Home spent 2007-2011 at Concordia (New York) … Dominican (New York) promoted Colin Hodge from assistant to head men’s soccer coach. Hodge takes over for John Campbell, who resigned last month.
Men’s and women’s soccer assistants – Denver named Jamie Franks assistant men’s soccer coach. Franks spent one year at his alma mater, Wake Forest, as a volunteer assistant.
Men’s and women’s swimming and diving – BYU elevated John Brooks from assistant to head men’s and women’s swimming and diving coach. He takes over for Tim Powers, who is retiring after 37 years at the institution.
Men’s and women’s tennis – Truman head men’s and women’s tennis coach Pete Kendall announced that he will retire following the 2012 spring season. Kendall has led the Bulldogs for the past 20 seasons.
Men’s and women’s volleyball – Montana State Billings hired former Metro State assistant Lisa Axel as its new head women’s volleyball coach.
Wrestling – Duke head wrestling coach Clar Anderson resigned from his position. Anderson had served in the role since the 1997-98 season … Carter Jordan will not return as North Carolina State’s head wrestling coach. Jordan held the position for the last eight seasons.
The Lone Star Conference hired Tim Crowley to oversee its football officials. Crowley has over 30 years of experience officiating in Texas.
Elon approved the addition of women’s lacrosse as a varsity sport to begin play in the 2013-14 academic year. The squad will be the 17th varsity sport at Elon.
